On Tuesday, January 10th, the Hostos Women's Basketball Team traveled to Garden City, NY to take on the Nassau Community College Lions. The Lions managed to keep the game close in the first half, but the Caimans were relentless and ran away with a 83-60 victory.
For the second straight game, the Caimans got off to a slow start only scoring 14 points in the 1
st quarter. The Caimans had a better effort in the 2
nd quarter, taking a 32-29 lead into the half. Determined to separate themselves from the Lions, the Caimans outscored Nassau 51 to 31 in the second half. Leading the charge was sophomore guard
Destini Green who filled out the stat sheet with another double-double, amassing 22 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals.
Pamela Suarez stepped up in a big way, earning another double-double as well, scoring 20 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.
Imani Bayne and
Ashley Smith also stepped up and dropped in 10 points each adding to the Caimans balance scoring output.
