Box Score 2 New York, NY -
The Lady Caimans are back in action for the first time since the holiday weekend and were ready for their CUNYAC rivals the BMCC Panthers. In a game where the Lady Caimans only trailed briefly by one point they controlled the game for the first three quarters. In a game that was competitive through the first three quarters the lady Caimans went on a 19-0 run in 7 minutes to break open the game behind
Imani Bayne's 12 points in the quarter.
When everything was all said and done the Caimans dominated the stats, leading the Panthers in points off of turnovers (18-10), 2
nd chance points (28-9) and points in the paint (34-32). Behind solid play from the dynamic duo
Corina Coles with 30 points and 4 steals and
Imani Bayne 20 points 11 rebounds the Lady Caimans seem to be in good hands. Shooting a combined 16-29 from the field 15-22 from the FT, the combination of Coles and Bayne may be what to watch for when they play well.
Next up in the evening the men's team looking on continuing that wave after a hard fought game vs LaGuardia just a week ago. After some much needed rest and recoup time the Caimans entered into tonight's matchup hungry. In a game that saw 16 lead changes and 2 ties the Caimans took the lead for good on a three pointer from
Dequawne Richards with a little over 14 minutes left. Richards would then hit another three to ignite the Caimans on a 24-10 run over an 8 minute stretch in the second half.
With almost half of the Caimans points coming from the three point line, they went 14-21 from the three and went 20-27 from the charity stripe. With 64 points coming from threes and free throws, it was definitely too much for the Panthers to overcome. The Caimans extend their win streak to two games and are beginning to look more comfortable and finishing off the semester strong much like their last season predecessors.
Jemal Smith had a game and season high 35 points with 5 assists with
Dequawne Richards and
Kameron Outlaw chipping in 21 and 16 points respecitvely. The trio of Smith, Richards & Outlaw not only hit all the threes, but both Smith and Richards connected on 5 three pointers, while Richards and Outlaw only missed one three pointer a piece.
Both teams will be in double header action at home this Thursday, December 3
rd vs Queensborough CC. The women tip off the double header at 6PM with the men plalying immediately after at 8PM.
