The Caimans (26-4) were able to overcome a tough Kingsborough Wave defense Friday afternoon in Selden, NY to capture its first Region XV Tournament win in close to a decade.  The Caimans now are set to face Region XV rival, the Sullivan Generals on Saturday at 7pm at Suffolk CC-Selden Campus for a chance to play in the Championship game.

Hostos and Kingsborough started the game trading baskets with both teams holding a slight edge during the first ten minutes of the half.  This was until Kingsborough began to make baskets while stifling Hostos with their 2-3 zone defense.  Kingsborough ended the half with a 26-19 advantage.  

The second half opened up with a Kingsborough basket to put them up 28-19.  Hostos stayed together and battled back with terrific play from Tyree White who had 21 of his 23 points in his second half, as well as, Dehaina Bailey who had 10 of his 12 in the second half as Hostos was able to outscore Kingsborough 47-32 en route to the 66-58 victory.  Anthony Rose was tremendous in the second half as he had 9 points in crucial moments for the Caimans.

In order for the Caimans to win the Region XV Tournament and advance to the National Tournament they must win 2 more consecutive games.   Next up are the Sullivan Generals at 7pm on Saturday.  Follow www.hostosathletics.com for all further information pertaining to the Region XV Tournament.
