The Caimans played together for a solid 80-61 victory over the Suffolk County CC Sharks as Sophomores - Gary Anderson, Wendell Appleton, Charles Jackson, Brian Morrison, and Brandon Stolz were honored by Head Coach Dr. Jody King in the Caimans fourth straight win and last home game of the year to bring their final record at the Swamp to 9-2 for the 2011-2012 season.

Hostos extended their lead to a 13 points and continued to frustrate Suffolk, as the Caimans built on a 12-3 run with 7:50 left in the game. Cue the "Jaws" music as the Sharks drew within 10 points with 2:44 remaining in the game. Charles Jackson would put the exclamation point with two AND-1 plays to extend the lead with an assist and two solid free throws from Jeremiah Brown. The Caimans shot 22-for-28 from the free throw line for the game.

The game was tighter in the first half but as the Caimans proved before - team work is key. At halftime, Hostos led 33-29. Brandon Stolz right out of the half contributed a quick bucket, followed by a Charles Jackson lay-up from Gary Anderson and another Anderson assist to Stolz for a basket from 3-point land to give the Caimans a 40-29 advantage before Suffolk could react.

For the Caimans, Jackson scored 34 points (15 in the first half) on 12-for-17 from the field and went 10-for-12 from the free throw line. Brandon Stolz added 15 points (4-9 FGs and 6-8 FTs), and Jeremiah Brown contributed 14 points (4-8 FGs and 5-6 FTs). Forward Henderson Belle helped down low  by grabbing 9 rebounds and scoring 6 points in 13 minutes.

Suffolk County CC Forward Corttrell King led his team with 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Hostos improved to 16-5 overall and 12-4 in Region XV action. They continue their season on Saturday, February 4th at Queensborough CC against the Tigers in CUNY Athletics Conference action at 3:00pm.
