With catch phrases such as, “Dipsy Doo for Two” and “Give it to the Big Man, Please!” it is no wonder why our good friends at www.D3Hoops.com have asked our Head Coach Jody King, Ph.D. to return to the broadcast booth to call the NCAA Skyline Tournament Men's Basketball Final this Saturday (February 25
th) at 8pm. Reunited with his broadcast partner, Frank Rossi, Esq., the two get the envious task of calling what shapes up to be one of the best college basketball tournament finals this season as the Purchase Panthers battle the Farmingdale State Rams at Farmingdale State with the winner advancing to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
It will not just be a Hostos affair for Coach King, but for some former and current Hostos basketball players as well. Former Hostos stand out Robert Adon is a senior on the Farmingdale team. Additionally, Ibrahim Johnson, a freshman at Farmingdale, was a former student at Hostos High School. Yet, two current Caimans,
Ismael Arriaza and
Bryan Silvera have different rooting interests. Their former coach, Craig Davis, is the starting center for Purchase and his relationship with Coach King was a major reason why Arriaza and Silvera chose to attend Hostos.
Lastly, for those that noticed from above, yes, there is a Doctor and a Lawyer calling the basketball game tomorrow. We all know about our own Dr. King but Frank Rossi is a Harvard Law School Graduate who has been commentating collegiate sports for over 18 years with most recent calls of the 2012 NCAA Division 3 Men's Football Stagg Bowl and the 2011 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament for d3hoops.com, the NCAA, and Turner Sports.
Good luck to the Skyline Conference Finals participants and for those interested in listening to Coach King, he can be heard tomorrow night (Saturday)at 8pm by following the links on
