Bronx, NY – The Caimans went into their game on Tuesday night, against the Borough of Manhattan Community College Panthers, with a 6 game winning streak hoping to extend it to 7. With their 79-50 win, not only did they extend their winning streak, but they also made it the longest winning streak in over 8 years for Hostos. The Caimans improved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the CUNYAC Conference.
Tyree White led the Caimans in points (16) and rebounds (14) giving him his first double-double of the season.
Jeremiah Brown added 14 points and
Chad Coachman had 11 points. The team finished the game with 45 rebounds and 11 steals demonstrating their defensive skills.
Hostos got the first points of the night on a put back by White, but the Panthers answered quickly with a three to take the lead. The lead would not last for long as White got two more quick baskets to make it 6-3 as the Caimans took back the lead which they maintained for the rest of the game. A steal and layup by Coachman made it 10-3, but the Panthers answered with a jump shot by Valon Diombal and an immediate steal leading to free throws, bringing BMCC to within 4. The Half remained close but Hostos kept their lead going into half time up 30-25.
The Caimans came out of half time on fire going on an 8-2 run to give them a 38-29 lead. Hostos took control from here not giving the Panthers a chance to breathe for the remainder of the game. The Caimans outscored the Panthers 49-25 and outrebounded them 25-10 in the second half on their way to their 7
th straight victory.
The Hostos Men have a busy week ahead as they host Dutchess at 8:30 PM on Thursday December 6
