Post Holiday Season; Hostos Men’s Basketball Remains in a Giving Mood

The Hostos Caimans (12-4) with a team high 36 assists were victorious Thursday night at the Swamp versus NJCAA Region 15 foe Dutchess County Community College Falcons by a score of 109-60.  What was a close contest early in the first half began to go in favor of the Caimans as the half neared a close.  The Caimans led at half with a 49-28 lead off 54% shooting compared to 38% for Dutchess.  Johnathan Gonzalez had 9 points and Jarelle Dixon had 8 for the Falcons.  For Hostos, Charles Jackson had 23 first half points and Sonny Kadisha had 10 points.

The second half was just as similar as the first half for the Caimans.  Dutchess tried to stay in the game by pressuring full court and playing both half court zone and man defense.  Yet, Caiman patience and ball movement were key factors for their second half success.  Gary Anderson and Maverick Hodge had 7 assists, Brandon Stolz and Khalid Yousef had 6 assists, and Charles Jackson had 5 assists all of which helped create opportunities for their teammates.  Sonny Kadisha took advantage of those opportunities as he finished with 20 points in 18 minutes.  Charles Jackson had a team high 38 points and 8 rebounds.  Brandon Stolz finished with 14.  Rahlek Smith had 9 points and Jeremiah Brown had 7 points.  Hostos shot 69% from the field and 80% from the 3 point line in the second half en route to completing a regular season sweep of the Falcons.  For Dutchess, Johnathan Gonzalez finished with 18 points.

The Caimans finish the week versus CUNY Athletics Conference (CUNYAC) rival Bronx CC at Hostos this Saturday.  Game time is slated for 2:00pm.  Be sure to get your seat early as the game is expected to showcase the top two teams for Men's CC Basketball in the CUNYAC!
