The Lady Caimans Women's Basketball program traveled to Valhalla, NY and played their third road game in a week against Region 15 leader Westchester CC. Hostos kept the game close early with defensive pressure but eventually fell to a stronger Westchester team, 72-45, despite forcing 26 WCC turnovers.

Hostos stayed within single digits in the 1st half and had Westchester coming out frustrated on offense. After halftime, WCC broke away thanks to shooting 51.6% from the field and passing the ball to teammates.

Despite the loss, guard Jackie Awosika scored 15 points and grabbed a monstrous 17 rebounds. Forward Kristina Shcherban led all scorers with 18 points on 10-for-12 free throw shooting and grabbed 6 rebounds for the Lady Caimans.

For Westchester, guard Jessica Negron tallied 16 points and 4 assists to lead her team.

Hostos heads home for a CUNY Athletics Conference duel against the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) tomorrow at 6:00pm. Currently, the Lady Caimans are in a three-way tie for first place at 4-1 with Queensborough CC and Kingsborough CC.
