The Hostos Caimans picked up a key road win by the score of 71-46 versus Middlesex County College on Tuesday night in Edison, New Jersey. The Caimans started the game off slow allowing MCC to take an early lead. Yet, after a Caiman basket and a 3-pointer by
Charles Jackson, the momentum began to swing in favor of the Caimans who never looked back for the remainder of the contest. Coupled with 9 first half points by
Khalid Yousef and a tomahawk dunk by Jackson, the lead quickly hit double digits for the Caimans and reached 25 points before Middlesex cut the lead to 17 on an 8-0 run to end the first half down 42-25.
In the second half, the Caimans were able to quickly expand their lead as MCC opened the second stanza in a zone defense. The Caimans were able to move the ball and create opportunities for each other. In doing so, they pushed their margin of lead above 20 points with the help of
Brandon Stolz's 11 second half points and the play of
Sonny Kadisha who finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. MCC was never able to cut the lead below 20 points, and the game finished with a win for Hostos, which now stands at 5-2 on the season.
Charles Jackson led the team with 19 points. For MCC, Myles Reuben had 15 points.
The Caimans return home for their first CUNY Athletics Conference game against Kingsborough CC this Thursday at 8pm.
