Box Score Stone Ridge, NY
On a beautiful clear 80 degree day your Hostos Caimans traveled to Stone Ridge, NY to open the season against the Ulster Senators. After animpressive victory last week, the Caimans were eager to see if they can ride that momentum into the Senators house and return home victorious.  Despite the Caimans dominating most of the game, it wasn't until the 77th minute that freshman DB Benjamin Frempong scored the only and deciding goal to help seal the first win of the season.
"We displayed an offensive game from kickoff, but we were not able to capitalize early", said Coach Gonzalez. In fact, the Men's side had 24 shots on goal including four that hit directly into the goal posts. Ulster's goalkeeper Adison Marciano was superb making significant saves that could have changed the game.
During half time, captain Alhassan Bio Salifu encouraged the team to play to the whistle, and to make sure they capitalized on every play. Fortunately, in a counter attack, defender Tenzin Yougyal was able to make a low ball pass that broke the offside trap as midfielder Benjamin Frempong was able to finally beat the goalkeeper with a fine finish to the right post.
Coach Gonzalez states "I am very proud of my guys, with every practice and game, we are getting to know each other more than ever. We still have a long way to go, but we have a common goal that we want to accomplish, therefore, we will continue to work our hardest on and off the pitch."
The caimans are back in action on Tuesday, September 1st as they face Middlesex CC at 4pm at Macombs field. Please come and support our men's squad on their home opener.
