Finishing with an overall record of 3-5-3 (1-0-3 CUNY Athletics Conference), the 2011 Hostos Men's Soccer squad made history not only by their record - the most overall wins to date for the program - but by making it to the CUNY Athletics Conference Championship for the first time ever since the inception of Hostos Men's Soccer in 2002. For all those who might argue that 9 years is a long time to come into competition just remember that Rome was not built overnight.
The success of the Caimans marks a new era in Men's Soccer as well as Hostos Athletics. Previously, the team played at Riverbank State Park and recently made the transition to the site of the old Yankee Stadium (right next to the new Yankee Stadium) at Macombs Dam Park.
Attendance at games has also increased. In the home opener against Dutchess CC, a record total of 63 family, friends, students, faculty, and staff could be found in the stands cheering faithfully!
Please stay tuned as the Men's Soccer team awaits their destiny with the Region XV seed meeting. If the Caimans make the final cut, they will play this Saturday, October 22nd at the site of the higher seeded team with a time to be determined. History in the making...
