Union, N.J. - The Caimans men's basketball team took to the road to take on Union Community College in New Jersey on Thursday night. The game was hard fought by both teams with multiple lead changes and ties but in the end the Caimans came out with the win by a final score of 94-90. With the win the Caimans are now 16-9 overall and 11-4 in Region XV action.
Setting the Pace for the Caimans with a career high of 30 points was freshman guard
Marquise Paulin by way of 9 of 14 shooting from the floor while knocking down 10 of 11 free throws. Paulin also added a team high seven steals, five assists and four rebounds. Also having a major night for Hostos was freshman forward
Ashaunte Manuel who notched a triple double with 11 points, 11 rebounds and career high 10 blocks. Leading the way off the bench for the Caimans was freshman guard
Josiah Chandler who netted 17 points and five assists. Also landing in double figure scoring was freshman forward Xaxier Ryan with 12 points and five rebounds. Freshman guard
Jaylen Thomas and freshman guard
Joshua Brown both notched nine points apeice for the Caimans.
As a team the Caimans on offense shot 53.2% from the floor while shooting an outstanding 92.9% from the free throw line (26 of 28) while dishing out 19 assists. On the defensive end the Caimans had 12 steals and out rebounded the Owls 35 to 27.
Next up for the Caimans is a showdown at Rockland Community College on Saturday, February 12 at 1:00pm.
