Bayside, N.Y. - The #1 nationally ranked women's basketball team took to the court on Saturday in a road CUNYAC matchup against the Tigers of Queensborough Community College. The young and rebuilding Tiger women's basketball program executed well and tried to keep the pace but the Caimans controlled the game from start to finish for a final score of 93-14. With the win Hostos improves to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the CUNYAC.
The Caimans placed five players in double figure scoring led by sophomore guard
Savannah Williams who paced the Caimans with 18 points, seven steals and five rebounds. In the paint forward
Lanasia Drain added a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Also having a big game for the Caimans was sophomore guard
Starr Garcia who netted 17 points, seven steals and seven rebounds while fellow sophomore
Aiyana Hicks also added 17 points, seven rebounds four blocks and four assists. At point guard sophomore
Dimon Walker posted 14 points, six assists and three steals.
As a team the Caimans shot 47.6% from the floor and 35.3% from deep while capturing 28 steals on defense.
Next up for the Caimans was is a road matchup against Region XV foe Monroe Bronx On Tuesday, December 6 at 6pm at the Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle, New York.
