Valhalla, N.Y. - The Caimans men's basketball team faced off against the host Westchester Community College Vikings in day two of the Johnny Jones Memorial Tip-Off Tournament. The Vikings came out and took control of the game although it was a tough back and forth affair through out the first half. But Westchester would hold court the first half going into the locker room with a 39-33 lead. The second half would see the Caimans make a run and make it a tight game but the Vikings held on for the victory winning by the final score of 80-73. With the loss the Caimans are now 1-2 overall and 1-0 in CUNYAC play.
Leading the way for the Caimans was sophomore guard Marquis Paulin who led all Caiman scorers with 16 points to go along with four rebounds. Freshman forward David Honore tallied 10 points and five rebounds for the Caimans while front court mate Tionne Palmer had four points and five rebound. At the guard position freshman Justice Carrington added nine points, four steals and three rebounds while sophomore guard Donta Sanders led the way off the bench with nine points.
As a team the Caimans held the Vikings to 42% from the floor defensively while also forcing Westchester into 26 turnovers.
The Caimans will now step back into Region XV and CUNYAC play on Thursday, November 10 when they face off against Kingsborough Community College on the road at 8pm.
