Bronx, N.Y. - The Caimans played host last night to the Suffolk Community College Sharks in Region XV men's basketball action last night in a battle of two traditional regional powers. The first half proved to be a battle as both teams played even for the first ten minutes. But the Caimans would go on an 8-0 run to pull away from the Sharks which would lead into a 11 point advantage at the half for the Caimans 45-34. The second half would prove to be all Caimans as they distanced themselves from Suffolk with multiple runs as the Caiman full court press proved too much. The Caimans captured the win by a final score of 104-71. With the win the Caimans are now 3-3 overall and 3-1 in Region XV play.

Leading the way for the Caimans was sophomore forward Tionne Palmer who notched a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to go along with two blocks. Leading the Caimans in scoring with his career high was freshman Jaysin Pichareo who netted 18 points including 4 of 7 shooting from deep. Fellow freshman Vosco Hicks also had his career high posting 17 points for the Caimans while adding four rebounds. Sophomore guard Marquis Paulin added 11 points while dishing out a game high seven assists to go along with six steals. Freshman guard Randolph Charles also added nine points for the Caimans. 

As a team Hostos was a scorching 59.4% shooting from the floor while knocking down a season best 45.8% of their three point attempts. Hostos also out rebounded Suffolk 43 to 29 while also snatching 16 steals from the Sharks.

Next up for the Caimans is a matchup with CUNYAC foe LaGuardia Community College on Tuesday, November 22 at 8pm at home in The Swamp.
