New Rochelle, N.Y. - The Hostos Men's Basketball team took to the road on Saturday to face NJCAA D1 powerhouse Monroe College in a non-conference matchup. Despite fighting hard and only being down 11 points at the half (41-29) the Caimans eventually fell to the Mustangs by a final score of 96-64. With the loss the Caimans are now 7-6 overall and 5-2 in Region XV action. 

Leading the way for the Caimans down low was freshman forward Tionne Palmer who had a team high 15 points to go along with eight rebounds. Also having a great game was freshman forward Ashaunte Manuel posting a double-double with 13 points and a game high 14 rebounds. Also contributing for the Caimans was freshman guard Jaylen Thomas with nine points, sophomore forward Sidi Toure who netted eight points and six rebounds and freshman guard Onias Outlaw who netted eight points and grabbed six rebounds and three steals. 

Next up for the Caimans is a non-conference showdown with Bergen Community College at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday, January 13 at 1:30pm. Tickets are good for both the 1:30pm matchup between Hostos and Bergen and the Brooklyn Nets game against the Oklahoma City Thunder at 8:30pm and are $60 for the upper level and $100 for the lower level.
