Bronx, N.Y. - Two of the top teams in Region XV faced off last night at The Swamp as the Caimans hosted the Monroe College Express. After a back and forth affair that saw the score tied at 54-54 with 8:29 left in the contest the Caimans pulled out the victory with a final score of 70-66. With the victory the Caimans are now 10-6 overall and 6-2 in Region XV action.
Leading the way for the Caimans was freshman guard
Onias Outlaw who posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds on 9 of 14 shooting from the floor. Freshman guard
Marquise Paulin led the Caimans in scoring with 22 points to go along with two rebounds and one assist. Also having a strong performance for Hostos was freshman guard
Rashad Ramserran who hauled down nine rebounds while adding six points and four steals. Inside freshman forward
Ashaunte Manuel pulled down eight rebounds and rejected two shots. Sophomore guard
Kai Holland added nine points and off the bench freshman guard/forward
Jaylen Thomas scored eight points to go along with two steals.
As a team the Caimans shot 44.4% from the field while connecting on 12 of 17 from the foul line.
Next up for the Caimans is a road trip to CUNYAC opponent Kingsborough Community College on Tuesday, January 25 at 8:00pm.
