Bronx, N.Y. - The #9 Hostos women's basketball team matched up with Region XV rival Nassau Community College in a rematch of the 2020 regional title game in The Swamp on Tuesday night. The game was a defensive battle but saw the Caimans come out on top 47-35 to improve to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in Region XV. The Caimans are also currently ranked 9th nationally in the latest NJCAA national poll.
Leading the way for the Caimans was
Dimon Walker who stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Freshman Forward
Savannah Williams continued her strong freshman year contributing on both sides of the ball with a game high five steals to along with 10 points and five rebounds. Sophomore Guard
Shania Lewis was one point shy of a double-double with nine points while pulling down a game high 12 rebounds.
As a team the Caimans corralled 18 offense rebounds and their press resulted in 18 steals.
Next up for the Caimans is a Saturday, December 18 matchup with Essex Community College at The Swamp. Tip-off is slated for 12:00pm.
