Coach Michael Smith respectfully called Coach Mike was born on August 22, 1990. He is the son of the late Michael Smith Sr. and Helena Lopez-Smith. He comes from a long history of basketball his uncle Tony Lopez played basketball at Northern Iowa. Coach Mike joined the Hostos Men's Basketball staff in 2017. At the time he was playing professionally in Mexico. Coach Mike would return and train both the Men's and Women's basketball team. His player development instantly helped student athletes reach higher performance levels. Coach Mike earned a degree in Business and Marketing from Lincoln University where he became a NCAA Division 2 All American. While attending Lincoln University he was selected All - MIAA Conference honorable mention after leading the Blue Tigers with 15.8 points per game. Prior to attending Lincoln University Coach Mike played for Westchester Community College in 2011-12, and was selected as a JUCO All-American. Coach Mike attended Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, but after he made a name for himself he earned a scholarship to attend Nashville Christian Academy Prep School. While at Nashville Christian he Averaged 13 points, six rebounds and five assists as a senior at Nashville Christian Advancement Academy ... participated in the Adidas Top 100 camp in 2008.
Currently Coach Mike is the founder and CEO of Daily Maintenance Player Development. Coach Mike training consist of on court, weightroom, beach and pool workouts.
