BROOKLYN, N.Y. – For the first time since 2020, the Hostos Community College women's basketball team has been crowned NJCAA Region XV/Northeast District Champions! 🏆🔥
The No. 4 nationally ranked Caimans secured the title with a hard-fought 64-60 victory over No. 12 Monroe-Bronx on Sunday afternoon at Kingsborough Community College.
Fresh off their eighth consecutive CUNY Championship just nine days prior, the Caimans showcased resilience, rallying in the fourth quarter to erase a deficit and punch their ticket to the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time since 2022.
Standout Performers:
- Daja White – 2025 NJCAA Region 15 and CUNY Player of the Year – led the charge with 20 points, six rebounds, and six steals.
- Sandra Asamoah contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
- Jozai Vazquez delivered eight points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Trailing 49-44 heading into the fourth quarter, Hostos turned up the intensity, outscoring Monroe-Bronx 20-11 in the final 10 minutes. With the game tied 58-58 at the 2:14 mark, the Caimans sank clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
