Bronx, N.Y. - The Hostos Men's Basketball team defended The Swamp on Thursday as they faced off with CUNYAC and borough rival Bronx Community College. The Caimans would come out right away and take control of the game forcing multiple Bronco turnovers off their full court press. The Caimans would go into the locker room at halftime with a 54-26 lead. The second half would be more of the same as the Caimans would keep control on their way to a 107-79 victory. With the win Hostos improves to 13-10 overall and 7-2 in CUNYAC play.
Leading the way for Hostos was freshman Evan Douglas-Vasquez who posted a career high 24 points to go along with seven rebounds. Also coming off the bench and making an impact was fellow freshman
TeAmo Ebron who nearly missed another triple-double with 10 points and nine rebounds and nine assists. Also having great games for the Caimans was freshman guards
Justice Carrington and
Cyncere Diarra who posted 12 points and 11 points respectively.
As a team the Caimans forced 26 Bronx turnovers while holding them to 40.3% shooting from the field. On offense Hostos shot 56.8% from the floor while dishing out 37 assists.
Next up for the Caimans is a road game against CUNYAC foe BMCC on Tuesday, February 7 at 7pm.
