Caimans Drop CUNYAC Contest to QCC

Box Score Bronx, N.Y. - The Hostos men's basketball team took to the court on Saturday to face CUNYAC foe Queensborough Community College in a battle that would have major seeding implications for both the CUNYAC and Region XV playoffs. The first half was a back and forth affair that would see neither team grab control of the game as they exchanged baskets the entire half. The Tigers would head into the locker room with a 33-32 lead over the Caimans. The second half would also see the battle continue with Hostos taking back the league with seven minutes left but Queensborough would not be denied victory as they rattled off a 9-0 run to regain the led and take control of the game en route to a 87-74 victory. With the loss the Caimans fell to 11-10 overall and a 6-2 mark in the CUNYAC. 

Leading the way for the Caimans was freshman guard Justice Carrington who netted a team high 18 points to go along with eight rebounds. Sophomore forward Tionne Palmer posted another double-double with 10 points while hauling down 15 rebounds. Off the bench Evan Douglas-Vasquez added nine points. 

As a team Hostos shot 42.4% from the field and dished out 19 assists while on defense they had 12 steals. 

Nest up for the Caimans is a Region XV road tilt at Dutchess Community College on Tuesday, January 31 at 7pm.
