Caimans edge Wave in 3OT

The Hostos Caimans defeated the Kingsborough Wave on Thursday night with a final score of 129-123. The match coined "the game heard around the concourse" was unforgettable. Both teams battled it out and just when you thought it was over BAM!!! Another shot made to extend the game one more possession. The Caimans head coach Marquee Poole said, "Man the only thing on that court was two good teams and god."
 
Teamo Ebron led the way for the Caimans with a 37-point performance that included 12 assists and 10 rebounds. Ermal Mehmetaj finished with 18 points while shooting a whopping 60% from behind the arc, followed by Cyncere Diarra's near triple double with 18 points, 7 assists & 7 steals (game high). Tyrese (Ty) Conway added 14 points & 11 rebounds. Justin Umunakwe Chipped in 12 points.
 
For the Wave, Chris Jace led the way with 36 points and 8 rebounds shooting an efficient 13-18 from the field 4/5 from 3. His teammates Orion Anyango dumped in 31 points and 9 rebounds of 8/18 shooting number and Philip Harris poured in 15 points & 7 rebounds. Isavior Coombs had a double with 13 points 11 rebounds.
 
The game was back and forth with electricity and intensity. The Caimans started off strong however the Wave packed a punch. The Caimans had a deficit in the first half but rallied back to bring it within three points where they executed a perfect play to get Ermal a shot that he hit throughout the course of the game to put the caimans back into contention.
 
After the first OT number #4 Isavior Coombs raced the floor and hit a one-legged double pump desperation heave from behind the 3 point line to send it to double overtime at 101-101. Spectators noted that it was symbolic of the week that Kingsborough Wave endured with the sudden passing of a fellow team member. Tabidi Abdelamaged passed away suddenly on Friday, November 3rd and was honored pregame.
 
After the 3rd overtime, the game was finished with our Hostos Caimans emerging victorious 129-123. The Caimans move to an overall record of 3-2. Check out your Caiman's next Tuesday, November 14th at 8pm where they travel to Dutchess Community College for a Region XV contest.
