Patterson, N.J. - The #9 Women's Basketball team traveled to Passaic Community College on Saturday to face the Panthers in a non region matchup of two teams that have been nationally ranked throughout the year with Passaic currently receiving votes in the latest national poll. The game started with both teams exchanging baskets before the Caimans would go on a small run in the second quarter to secure a lead at halftime 32-24. The second half proved to be a back and forth affair with the Caimans holding off multiple Passaic runs to keep the lead en route to a 62-55 victory. With the win the Caimans improve to 10-4 overall.
Leading the way for the Caimans was sophomore forward
Lanasia Drain who posted a double-double with a career high 21 rebounds to go along with 19 points. Also posting a double-double for Hostos was sophomore forward
Aiyana Hicks who netted 14 points and 12 rebounds. Also making big contributions for the Caimans was sophomore guard
Dimon Walker who dished out 12 assists meanwhile on the boards sophomore
Zaire Bailey hauled down 12 rebounds and freshman
Fatoumata Diaby collected 11 rebounds.
As a team the Caimans shot 47.8% from the floor and dished out 22 assists.
Next up for the Caimans is a home contest against Kingsborough Community College on Tuesday, January 24 at The Swamp, Tip-off is scheduled for 6pm.
