Suffern, N.Y. - The Caiman Men's Basketball team traveled to Rockland Community College on Saturday to take on the Hawks in a non-conference matchup. Hostos came storming out of the gate taking a 49-35 lead at the half over Rockland. But the Hawks came back in the second half making multiple runs to make it a one possession game. But Hostos would hold on and capture the road victory by a final score of 93-89. With the win the Caimans now improve to 10-7 overall.
Leading the way for the Caimans was sophomore guard Marquis Paulin who had a dominating career high of 34 points while also packing the stat sheet with five assists, five rebounds and five steals. Sophomore guard/forward
Jaylen Thomas also posted double figure scoring for Hostos netting 11 points and four assists. Off the bench freshman guard
TeAmo Ebron continued his great freshman year posting a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while also adding six assists. In the paint sophomore forward
Tionne Palmer added six points and nine rebounds for the Caimans.
As a team Hostos was 47% from the floor as a team and 31.3% from deep. From the charity stripe the Caimans were 72.2%. The Caimans also dished out 28 assists and hauled down 18 offensive rebounds while on defense recorded 23 steals.
Next up for the Hostos is a Region XV tilt against Monroe-Bronx on Thursday, January 19 at The Swamp. Tip-off is scheduled for 8pm.
