Bronx, N.Y. - The #14 Hostos women's basketball team hosted the #6 Community College of Rhode Island in a Non-region match up of nationally ranked teams in The Swamp on Tuesday night. The Caimans came out ready to play against their highly ranked opponents from the start taking the lead to start the game and kept the lead to the end to knock off the #6 Knights 74-63. With the win the Caimans are now 12-3 overall and 4-2 in Region XV action.
Setting the pace for the Caimans was freshman guard
Dimon Walker who netted a team high 20 points as well as two rebounds and two assists. Freshman guard
Savannah Williams packed the stat sheet for Hostos with 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Also reaching double figure scoring for the Caimans was freshman guard
Starr Garcia who netted 12 points and corralled four rebounds. Inside the paint sophomore forward
Ayanna Brown hauled down a game high 16 rebounds to go along with eight points.
On the offensive end the Caimans hauled down 16 offensive rebounds and dished out 19 assists while knocking down 36.8% of their three point attempts.
Next up for the Caimans is a non-region matchup at Union Community College on Thursday, February 9 at 5:30pm.
