Bronx, N.Y. - The Hostos Men's Basketball team took to the court for the second time this week against borough and CUNYAC rival Bronx Community College in the latest chapter of their rivalry. Hostos controlled the game from start to finish placing four players in double figure scoring in rout to a 101-62 victory. With the win Hostos is now 14-7 overall and 7-0 in the CUNYAC placing them in sole possession of first place.
Setting the pace for the Caimans was freshman forward
Ashaunte Manuel who posted a double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds while also adding three blocks. Freshman guard
Frantley Pondujour posted a career high of 15 points knocking down two of three, three-point attempts. Freshman forward
Xavier Ryan also had a break out game with his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Rounding out the double figure scorers for the Caimans was freshman guard
Joshua Brown who netted 11 points and four rebounds.
Also having big games for the Caimans was freshman guard
Onias Outlaw who packed the stat sheet with nine points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. On the interior freshman forward
Tionne Palmer hauled down 10 rebounds to along with eight points and freshman guard
Marquise Paulin added six assists and seven steals to go along with seven points.
As a team the Caimans handed out 30 assists while shooting 47.6% from the floor. On the defensive end Hostos had 20 steals while they out rebounded the Broncos 63-44.
Next up for the Caimans is a trip to Brooklyn to take on ASA on Saturday, February 5 at 7:00pm.
