Bronx, N.Y. - The #1 ranked Caimans Women's Basketball team improved to 5-0 in CUNYAC action with a win over BMCC at The Swamp on Thursday night. The first quarter was full of action as the Panthers of BMCC fought hard and played most of the half even. The second half would prove to be all Caimans as they went on a 16-6 run to go into the halftime locker room up by a score of 33-15. Hostos would take control of the second half right from the start and finished the game strong for the 81-35 win. With the victory the Caimans are now 7-2 overall and 5-0 in the CUNYAC.
Leading the way for the Caimans was sophomore forward
Aiyana Hicks who posted a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds while adding five assists, four blocks and three steals. Sophomore guard
Savannah Williams netted 19 points to go along with six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Point Guard
Dimon Walker notched 10 points and six assist while fellow point guard
Felicia Felicien Passed out 10 assists. Off the bench
Lanasia Drain added 14 points and eight rebounds. Also contributing for the Caimans was sophomore forward
Zaire Bailey who posted eight points and 11 rebounds and also off bench
Fatoumata Diaby had a game and career high 15 rebounds with six points.
As a team the Caimans held BMCC to 23.4% shooting from the floor and forced the Panthers into 20 turnovers. On the boards the Caimans out rebounded the Panthers 57 to 19 while dishing out 30 assists,Â
Next up for the Caimans is a road Region XV battle against Nassau Community College on Tuesday, December 13 at 6pm in Garden City.
