Bronx, N.Y. - The #1 ranked Hostos women's basketball team took to the court Tuesday night as the hosted the Red Hawks of LaGuardia Community College in a CUNYAC matchup. This game was all Hostos from start to finish as the Caiman used a 21-2 run to start the game which led to a 101-30 victory. With the win the Caimans now improve to 5-0 overall and are 3-0 in CUNYAC action.
The Caimans placed six players in double figures led by sophomore guard
Starr Garcia who posted a game high 17 points of 7 of 8 shooting from the floor including 2 of 2 from three point land. Sophomore forward
Lanasia Drain added 16 points to go along with nine rebounds and four blocks while her fellow forward sophomore Ayiana Hicks posted a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, six rebounds while also adding five steals, five blocks and four assist. Sophomore guard
Savannah Williams added 14 points for the Caimans along with four assists, three rebounds and three steals.
Leading the way off the bench for the Caimans sophomore guard Dimon walker added 14 points along with four assists and four steals. Freshman forward
Fatoumata Diaby netted 10 points while hauling down eight rebounds. Freshman guards
Zaire Bailey and
Darina David both added eight points apiece for Hostos off the bench.
Next up for the Caimans is a matchup against Monroe College at The Swamp on Tuesday, November 29 at 6pm.
