Garden City, N.Y. - The Caimans Women's Volleyball team traveled to Nassau Community College for a Region XV double dual meet taking on Bronx Community College and Monroe College - Bronx. The Caimans earned the split beating Bronx 3-0 and falling to Monroe-Bronx 0-3 to put their overall record to 5-10 while the Caimans are currently 3-2 in CUNYAC action.
In the first game of the afternoon the Caimans took on borough and CUNYAC rival Bronx Community College. Hostos jumped right out of the gate taking the first set from the Broncos 25-2. The Caimans stayed in control taking the second set 25-9 and winning the third set 25-6 to capture the victory.
Leading the way for Hostos against the Broncos was freshman Nicole Rosas who registered a career high 18 service aces while adding one kill and one dig. Sophomore setter Ashley Cabral posted eight assists and eight service aces while freshman Nyla Rivera recorded six digs, six service aces and two kills.
In the second game of the afternoon Hostos faced off with region leading Monroe College - Bronx. The Caimans battled all game making it a difficult match for the Express but in the end Monroe's experience and depth proved to much for Hostos defeating the Caimans 3-0 by the scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-18.
Leading the charge against Monroe-Bronx was freshman outside hitter Jasmine Garcia who stuffed the stat sheet with 19 digs and eight kills. Freshman Nicole Rosas posted 13 digs and four kills. Sophomore setter Ashley Cabral had 11 assists and six digs.
Next up for the Caimans is a home match against Nassau Community College in The Swamp on Tuesday, October 4 at 6pm.
