Bayside, N.Y. - The Caimans Men's Basketball team travel to Queensborough Community College on Friday night to take on the Tigers in a CUNYAC showdown with 1st place implications on the line. Both teams came into the matchup with winning records but the Caimans came out on top in the end by a score of 70-50. With the victory the Caimans are now 12-7 overall and 6-0 in CUNYAC action.
Leading the way for the Caimans was freshman forward Ashuante Manuel who posted a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds. Manuel was also active in the paint on defense with a team high five blocks.
Kai Holland also had a big night for the Caimans knocking down four three-pointers on his way to a 12 point night. Also contributing for the Caimans was freshman guard
Onias Outlaw who packed the stat sheet with 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Off the bench freshman big man
Tionne Palmer had a major impact in the paint hauling down 11 rebounds to go along with six points.
The Caimans as a team had a great night on the offensive end knocking down 36.4% of their three-pointers while dishing out 21 assists while also corralling 17 offensive rebounds. On the defensive end Hostos forced 17 Queensborough turnovers and outrebounded the Tigers 44 to 26.
The Caimans are back in action on Tuesday night against Region XV opponent Dutchess Community College on Tuesday, February 1 at home in The Swamp. Tip-off is slated for 8:00pm.
