Valhalla, N.Y. - The Men's Basketball team kicked off their season Saturday afternoon defeating Bergen Community College 77-65 on day one of the Johnny Jones Memorial Tournament hosted by Westchester Community College. Despite suffering 36 turnovers the Caimans were able to hold off Bergen CC in a back and forth affair with their depth making the difference with an impressive 49 bench points.
Leading the Caimans was freshman froward
Xavier Ryan posting 13 points and 7 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures was freshman guard
Joshua Brown notching 11 points. Hostos had big contributions from freshman forward Ashunate Manual leading the team with 13 rebounds while his freshman front court mate
Tionne Palmer added 9 points and 8 rebounds.
Leading the Bulldogs Macio Robinson recorded a 15 point night while teammate Tamir Williams posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
The Caimans are back in action tomorrow against the host Vikings of Westchester Community College at 3pm.
