Head Women's Volleyball Coach Perla Pozo Ruiz announced on July 13, 2022 that Marien Garcia will be joining her coaching staff for the 2022 season.

Coach Garcia started playing volleyball at 12 years old. As a player he always tries to do his best in every competition and his enthusiasm led him to be a leader in high school. An Outside hitter in San Gabriel high school he led the team to win two golden medals in his high school league in Santo Domingo. During his first year he was selected to practice and be part of infantile pre-national Dominican team in 2003-2005.
 
Coach Garcia played infantile and juvenile for BAMESO Volleyball Club as Outside hitter. As captain he led the team to the finals two times in a row in each category in the district championship.
 
Following high school, Coach Garcia took a break from professional volleyball, but he maintained himself playing in adult leagues and got involved with adult team/clubs as part of the administrative staff organizing different tournament modalities (Beach, Indoor and Grass Volleyball) and has also served in coaching capacities as both the head and assistant coach for numerous club teams.
 
Since 2014 Coach Garcia has an annual thematic event in the Dominican Republic, name VolicespedRd, this event was created by the idea to connect people from different volleyball leagues and have fun playing grass volleyball.
 
Coach Garcia has spent multiple years coaching club volleyball programs and organizing summer camps and clinics. His passion for the game and for student athletes motivate him to continue helping individuals to grew up as better people and athletes. Currently, Coach Garcia is coaching for the Legacy Volleyball Club as a head and assistant coach. As head coach of the Girls 16 Premier Team and guided the team to achieve the golden bracket in both travel tournaments for the club 2021-2022 season placing in the top 10 for both tournaments. Coach Garcia also is the assistant coach for the Girls 16 National Team and helped giving the girls one their best experience at the AAU National Tournament.  
 
Professionally, Marien is an Industrial Engineer with a MS in Occupational Health & Safety, and he holds a postgraduate degree in Radiation Protection and the Safety of Radiation Sources (PGEC).
