Bronx, N.Y. - The Caimans hosted Passaic Community College and Monroe-Bronx on Saturday for a Labor Day weekend Tri-Match. In the first match of the day Hostos took on the Panthers of Passaic Community College in a non-region battle. After a back and forth start in set one the Caimans rolled off 8 straight points to take command on the way to a 25-13 win. The Caimans kept control of the match winning the second and third sets by the scores of 25-8 and 25-12, respectively to take the game 3-0. 

Leading the way for the Caimans against Passaic was sophomore Savannah Williams who registered a season high 19 kills to go along with six service aces and five digs. Sophomore Ashly Cabral also had a great outing for Hostos leading the team with 10 service aces and 15 assists. Freshman Nicole Rosas led the Caimans with nine digs while also adding nine kills. freshman Jasmine Garcia also had a great first match posting nine assists and five service aces. 

In the second match of the afternoon the Caimans faced off against regional rivals Monroe-Bronx in a non-region match-up. Hostos fought hard against the Express losing the first set 25-14 and battling Monroe toe to toe in the second set losing 25-19. But the Caimans ran out of steam and Monroe-Bronx took control in the third set winning by a commanding 25-8 score winning the game 3-0. 

With the split the Caimans are now 2-2 overall and 1-0 in CUNYAC and Region XV play. 

Next up for the Caimans is a match up against Union Community College on Wednesday, September 7 at 7pm in The Swamp. The game will be streamed live on www.hostosathletics.com and all fans are welcome that are fully vaccinated or have a negative PCR test from the last seven days.
