Suffern, N.Y. - The Caiman Women's Volleyball team traveled to Rockland Community College on Saturday to wrap up their regular season against Westchester Community College and Rockland Community College in a Region XV double dual meet.
In the first match against Westchester Community College the Caimans came ready to play but the Vikings controlled the action taking the first set 25-20. The second and third set would continue to be all Westchester as they took both sets by the score of 25-16 in both to win the match 3-0.
Leading the way against the Vikings was sophomore
Savannah Williams who recorded seven kills and 19 digs. Freshman Nicole Rosas and Jasmine Garcia both contributed for the Caimans posting 14 and 13 digs each respectively. Sophomore setter
Ashly Cabral posted seven assists while sophomore middle blocker
Camila Lebron added four blocks.
In the second match of the day the Caimans took on host team Rockland Community College. Hostos came out focused from the start and took the first set 25-18. The caimans continued to control the match taking the second set 25-8 to take a 2-0 lead in the match. In the third set the Hawks would not go down easy but Hostos would edge them out to win the final set 25-23 to take the game by a score of 3-0. With the win against Rockland the Caimans finish the regular season with a 7-15 record.
Leading the way for the Caimans against Rockland was sophomore outside hitter
Savannah Williams who registered a career high 31 digs and 12 kills. Freshman outside hitter Jasmine Garcia recorded eight kills, 12 digs and three service aces. Freshman Nicole Rosas added 16 digs, five kills and three service aces. Also contributing for the Caimans was sophomore setter
Ashly Cabral who posted 21 assists while sophomore defensive specialists
Iyanna Charon had six digs.
The Caimans are now headed to the CUNYAC playoffs where they await sending and game times. The CUNYAC playoffs will take place on Monday, October 24 at Queensborough Community College.
