Cranford, N.J. - The Caiman Women's Volleyball team stepped out of Region XV play on Tuesday evening for a matchup against the Owls of Union Community College. It was a battle for the first set as both teams went point for point with Union coming out on top by two for a final score of 25-23 to take a 1-0 lead. Hostos came to play in the second set led by freshman Jasmine Garcia and Nicole Rosas who catapulted the Caimans to a 25-14 win to even the match at 1-1. The final two sets were all Union as they won the third set 25-8 and the fourth set 25-20 to take the win by a score of 3-1. With the loss the Caimans are now 6-13 overall.
Leading the way for the Caimans were two freshman outside hitters, Jasmine Garcia who posted 21 digs, 10 kills, three assists and two service aces and Nicole Rosas who registered 17 digs, 11 kills, eight service aces and four assists. Sophomore Setter Ashley Cabral had a great night with 18 assists and five digs while sophomore middle blocker
Camila Lebron added three blocks.
Next up for the Caimans is a CUNYAC road trip to Queensborough Community College on Thursday, October 13 at 6pm.
